When rains finally came to offer relief from the drought in summer 2023, the beekeepers of DLIOF felt a renewed sense of hope.
Green grass began to grow again, and bees were busy pollinating numerous flowers around the apiaries. The beekeepers and farmers hope to support the installation of an irrigation system soon to better handle the rains.
Peter himself was busy transporting new hives from storage at a neighbor's home to the community apiary. It was a major effort.
Many of DLIOF's hives were built with the help of a disabled local carpenter. The walking path to his house is difficult to navigate, but by working together, many of his hives have been successfully transported to the community apiary.
