DLIOF's efforts to build the Kilungu Community Forest Association has been a great effort towards resilience and adaptation to climate change. The ownership by the community, shown by the massive turnout at the meeting depicted below, is amazing, assuring sustainability in using and protecting this forest.
DLIOF believes in "community leadership teams in action", a process that leads communities to create sustainable community associations, cooperatives, and societies entities that are guided by law. The Kilungu Community Forest Association is now registered and functional. It has given the community an opportunity to supply water from a well designed and funded by the county to pump water through the forest. By gravity the water supply will go to the 3000 families living around the forest area.
