While the Aimi Community Apiary was recognized as the most innovative project among 47 Community Based Organizations supported by the Yetu Initiative Bootcamp in 2022 (funded by Aga Khan and USAID), heat waves during summer 2023, water contamination and loss, lack of natural shade for hives, and contamination poisoning of the air and vegetation by neighboring farms using insecticide resulted in the loss of some bees. Prioritizing resilience and adaptation to climate change in all our model farms is vital to the survival of our practices. Still, following heavy rains, there are signs of hope that our project will continue to build upon its successes.
